Brinkmann 5 Burner Gas Grill

By Max Good

Manufacturer: Brinkmann Files for Chapter 11!

On October 8, 2015, Brinkmann filed for Chapter 11 under the US bankruptcy code. As of November 30th, 2015 they are no longer selling products, not accepting returns or exchanges, and not honoring warranties. It appears one of their biggest client, Home Depot, stopped ordering and that pushed them over the edge.

Brinkmann is known for super low priced cookers, made for frugal people. Quality and price are close to value brands like Masterbuilt, Char-Griller and Master Forge, but Brinkmann is a small step above and sometimes offers interesting and useful value added features. Brinkmann is one of the largest BBQ manufacturers in the United States, angling for the market of price driven rival, Char-Broil, but lacking that company's focus and innovation. They have a thousand and one models and some have merit considering the price, but many of their products are more of the same cost driven stuff with a different logo on the lid.

Brinkmann is widely distributed online and at brick and mortar outlets, including big box stores.

Brinkmann 5 Burner Gas Grill

On October 8, 2015, Brinkmann filed for Chapter 11 under the US bankruptcy code.

Brinkmann’s 5-Burner with Side Burner is mighty big for the bucks. They make a 4-Burner that sells for the same price so take your pick. Cut rate construction all around from the thin metal body to the plastic control knobs, but for $200 you’ll get  little more than what you paid for.

Five tube burners with 10,000 BTU each, a 12,500 BTU side burner and porcelain coated cast iron grates. Although the 502 square inch primary cook surface is large, it’s not gigantic for the 5 burners, which accounts for the respectable Heat Flux Rating of 100, (BTU per square inch), providing an extra kick for high temp searing.

Many owners like this grill or at least feel it's worth the super low price. A few condiment rackhave buyer's remorse, although one wonders what their expectations could have been for this size in this price range. If you want a big gasser on a tight budget, you could sure do worse.

The two wheel cart is not enclosed, but does include tool hooks, a built-in bottle opener and a pull out condiment rack. Get a cover to extend the life of this low cost device. Brinkmann makes some nice ones.
