On October 8, 2015, Brinkmann filed for Chapter 11 under the US bankruptcy code. While the company is opened for business and continues to sell products, they are not accepting returns or exchanges. They no longer will honor warranties and all sales are final. It appears their biggest client, Home Depot, stopped ordering and that pushed them over the edge. We'll keep you posted.
Brinkmann is known for super low priced cookers, made for frugal people. Quality and price are close to value brands like Masterbuilt, Char-Griller and Master Forge, but Brinkmann is a small step above and sometimes offers interesting and useful value added features. Brinkmann is one of the largest BBQ manufacturers in the United States, angling for the market of price driven rival, Char-Broil, but lacking that company's focus and innovation. They have a thousand and one models and some have merit considering the price, but many of their products are more of the same cost driven stuff with a different logo on the lid.
Brinkmann is widely distributed online and at brick and mortar outlets, including big box stores.
Brinkmann All-In-One Gas & Charcoal Smoker, Grill & Fryer
On October 8, 2015, Brinkmann filed for Chapter 11 under the US bankruptcy code.
The Brinkmann All-In-One Gas & Charcoal Smoker, Grill & Fryer is a cheapo versatile bullet that is best when cooking with gas, but can be adapted to cook with charcoal. Read more about setups for Charcoal Bullet Smokers. It can also be used as a smoker, brazier, or deep fryer. This was Meathead's first smoker, and it lasted several years although the base eventually rusted out and the aluminum firebox corroded. As always the thermometer is cheap and inaccurate. Adding water is awkward because it must be poured from the top and can easily get on the food or the lava rocks. Adding wood is downright dangerous because the whole upper unit must be slid partially aside.
It can be removed from the stand for easy transport when camping and tailgating. The newer Masterbuilt 7-in-One is modeled on this unit and is a lot better for just little more money.
$189 Manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP), actual price may vary.

GrillGrates(TM) amplify heat, prevent flareups, make flipping foods easier, keep small foods from committing suicide, kill hotspots, are easier to clean, flip over to make a fine griddle, and can be easily removed and moved from one grill to another. You can even throw wood chips, pellets, or sawdust between the rails and deliver a quick burst of smoke to whatever is above. Every gas grill needs them.
The PK Grill has become our favorite charcoal grill. It proves some ideas never die.
Designed in 1952, the rectangular shape is easy to set up in 2 or 3 heat zones, it can easily be used as a smoker, the cast aluminum body is indestructible, airflow is easy to manage, and there is plenty of room under the hood.
Made of rugged 1/8" thick aluminum, 20" long, with four serious rivets, mine show zero signs of weakness after years of abuse. I use it on meats, hot charcoal, burning logs, and with the mechanical advantage that the scissor design creates, I can easily pick up a whole packer brisket. Click here to read more. - Meathead
Mo's Smoking Pouch is essential for gas grills. It is an envelope of mesh 304 stainless steel that holds wood chips or pellets. The airspaces in the mesh are small enough that they limit the amount of oxygen that gets in so the wood smolders. Put it on top of the cooking grate, on the burners, on the coals. It holds enough wood for about 15 minutes for short cooks, so you need to refill it or buy a second pouch for long cooks like pork shoulder and brisket. Mine has survived more than 50 cooks. I like it better than the smoker tubes. Click for more info. - Meathead
