Huntington Cast Series 24025 Gas Grill

By Max Good

Manufacturer: Huntington

Huntington has made gas grills in Huntington, IN since the 1980s. In 2009 Canadian BBQ giant, Onward Manufacturing, bought Huntington. Some believe they just wanted a box stamped "Made in America" for all their big box made in north america logocustomers. Be that as it may, many features from Onward's beautiful Broil King grills have migrated to Huntington models while Huntington prices have remained low, making them just about the best deal for a low cost grill you're going to find. A side effect of this synergetic merger resulted in the "Made in America" stamp often being replaced with "Made in North America".

Huntington is one of six quality brands of Gas Grills owned by Canadian BBQ giant, Onward Manufacturing. Onward also owns the well regarded Broil King, Broil-Mate, Blue Ember and Sterling Grill lines, as well as Fiesta, Grill Pro and Barbecue Genius Parts and Accessories. Founded in Canada in 1906 by T.A. Witzel, Onward is now owned and managed by his three grandsons.

Huntington Cast Series 24025 Gas Grill

Top Ten Charcoal Grill 2014The Huntington Cast 24025 LP Gas Grill is a throwback to the first cast aluminum gas grills which began appearing in the early 1960s and are still made by American companies like Modern Home Products. Back then, cast aluminum housings were the norm instead of stainless or coated steel. The aluminum cookbox retains heat and distributes it evenly. Although the casting on this model is much thinner than the heavy duty MHP, the price is also dramatically less.

This small gasser has an old style, 25,000 BTU stainless steel Dual Control Burner: a single burner that is effectively two burners fused together with separate controls. One large heat tent covers the dual burner to help even hungtington heat tentout and distribute heat, (shown right). The cooking grates are porcelain coated wire so don't expect sear marks from the low powered burner. Click here to learn more about cooking grates.

The 24025 could have benefited by using a higher output burner and/or cast iron grates that would store and conduct heat better than these flimsy steel rods.  A warming rack is included. There is no grease tray, just a hanger for an empty soda can to catch gunk that drips out of an opening under the burner. A lightweight two-wheeled cart with no enclosure features resin side shelves with integrated tool hooks, and it comes with electric ignition.

Thankfully Huntington didn't waste their money or yours on an inaccurate built in heat estimator. Get an accurate digital thermometer and watch your grilling prowess skyrocket!

We like Huntington, which is owned by the Canadian Onward Manufacturing, makers of quality grill lines Broil-Mate and Broil King. This grill was originally sold under the Fiesta brand, another Onward Grill company. It is also sold under their Broil-Mate label. And just for fun, Onward also sells an identical version as the Huntington 630014. The aluminum construction is an attractive feature, but it could use a bit more power and better grates. Still for around a hundred bucks, it is what it is. Many cheap gassers have a one year warranty or less. This model is warrantied for 10 years on all cast aluminum parts, 5 years on the stainless burner, and 2 years on all other parts.
