Arizona BBQ Outfitter's Scottsdale Cooker is a clever design that melds an adjustable height charcoal grill with a Santa Maria, vertical lift grill. Most vertical lift grills have no hood, which limits their capability to some degree. Scottsdale employs a removable hood and back windbreak to provide the best of both in one. Hood off for grilling Santa Maria style moving the vertical... Read More

We heard a lot of bad news about Bayou Classic ceramics in the past. These cookers are outsourced to Chinese fabricators. Bayou Classic's parent company, Barbour International, claims they had quality problems with previous vendors, but have found new sources capable of producing much better product. Indeed, it appears satisfied owners are in the majority now. But, buyer beware, it also... Read More

Big Poppa's Drum Smoker Kit is gaining popularity. The kit includes everything you need to make an Ugly Drum Smoker, aka UDS, except the barrel and elbow grease. For those who don't want the hassel of tracking down a food grade BBQ cooking barrel and drilling it out, Big Poppa teamed up with Bubba Barrels to offer the kit and a high quality stainless steel drum, pre-drilled and ready... PlaceholderBlack boxy horizontal grill on four legs with two wheels. There is a wooden handle up front and a shelf attached to the right side.
Cajun Grill makes six variations of this heavy duty cooker. The Cajun Grill is their smallest with 468 square inches of cooking surface. It can grill, and, because it is long and narrow, it can be easily set up for indirect cooking and BBQ smoke roasting. It has a V shaped trough in which the charcoal grate sits. The charcoal can be raised and lowered, but because of the V shape, the... Read More

This is a great concept, a capacious gas and charcoal grill in one unit, and you can add an optional offset charcoal firebox to make it a smoker, too. Unfortunately the quality is reflected in their price. Cheap. The gas side on the left produces 40,800 BTU with 3 burners. A side burner puts out 12,000 BTU. There is no natural gas optional hookup. We recently tested the stand alone... Read More

The Dyna-Glo Dual Zone Charcoal Grill looks good on paper, but we are skeptical of the quality from this manufacturer. The good news is it has two, independently adjustable charcoal trays, a unique BBQ feature which could be useful, and a removable firebox divider to isolate the two zones. Double cast iron doors up front allow easy access for tending the charcoal trays. Cooking grates... Read More

Englander's 21-PG100 Pellet Smoker was designed in conjunction with Fast Eddie Maurin, whose award winning pellet smokers are well known on the competition circuit. Indeed the PG100 has many similarities to Fast Eddy's PG500. Unlike most pellet smokers that are indirect BBQ ovens, both the PG100 and PG500 have one direct and two indirect cooking zones. The direct zone on the left is an... Read More

PlaceholderPewter colored 55 gallon upright drum smoker with lid removed and hanging from the side.
The first thing one may notice about Gateway Drum Smokers is the colorful, high-heat resistant paint. The second thing is the unusual air control system which consists of two intake pipes welded to the bottom of the drum to feed air into the firebox. Each pipe curves upward, terminating just below the upper rim of the drum, and each has an adjustable damper at the top. There is a small... Read More

The PigOut Roaster POR 48 is their smallest all in one cooker for large capacity events and handles up to a 70 pound pig or lamb. This is a really clever design. Built in Canada, this ingenious stainless steel propane fired device has a motorized rotisserie for hogs and lambs that can also be used to hold optional shelves, ferris wheel style, for cooking other foods like chicken, BBQ... 1) Please try the table of contents or the search box at the top of every page before you ask for help.

2) Try to post your question to the appropriate page.

3) Tell us everything we need to know to help such as the type of cooker and thermometer. Dial thermometers are often off by as much as 50°F so if you are not using a good digital thermometer we probably can't help you with time and temp questions. Please read this article about thermometers.
