For 2014 Weber brought back the 14.5" compact version of their popular Smokey Mountain Series. WSMs are high quality, charcoal fueled, bullet-shaped smokers. They are often seen competing head to head with large commercial cookers at practically every BBQ competition. And winning. They take very little time to master, and there are a lot of tricks the experts use to produce incredible... Read More

The Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker 22.5" is the newest and largest version of their popular charcoal smoker. WSMs are high quality, charcoal fueled, bullet-shaped smokers. They can often be seen competing head to head with large commercial cookers at practically every BBQ competition. And winning. Char-Griller's Flavor Pro Multi-Fuel Grill is a four burner gas grill with a slide out "Flavor Drawer" above the burners that can hold wood and/or charcoal, enabling you to cook with any of the fuels or all three. Although Char-Griller describes Flavor Pro as a "first of its kind grill design", it is actually a $500 version of a $17,000 Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet Hybrid Fire Grill.... Read More

We do not like or recommend cheap offset smokers like American Gourmet. Yes, the sticker price is low, the big horizontal drum looks like your BBQ dream come true, and if you don't mind spending time and money for parts, (not to mention ruined meat), you may eventually get one to work OK. But they are a nightmare for a novice and by the time you add your hours and out of pocket expenses... Read More

About the only good thing we can say about the Char-Griller Smokin' Pro is the price is unbeatable. MSRP on this is way inflated. You can easily find these for substantially less. Many wide-eyed first time smokers, including me, thought it made sense to buy this tin can as a starter model to learn what BBQ smoking is about before moving up to a more expensive cooker. The problem with... Read More

A gas grill and charcoal grill/smoker for $400: three cookers rolled into one. Use just one side for cooking a couple steaks or both sides for parties. Although some owners gripe that cook surface on each side is smallish.

Barrel House Cooker makes an 18 inch diameter UDS (Ugly Drum Smoker) that very closely resembles Pit Barrel Cooker, a company we admire very much. Indeed, Pit Barrel took legal action against Barrel House.

The Dyna-Glo Dual Zone Charcoal Grill looks good on paper, but we are skeptical of the quality from this manufacturer. The good news is it has two, independently adjustable charcoal trays, a unique BBQ feature which could be useful, and a removable firebox divider to isolate the two zones. Double cast iron doors up front allow easy access for tending the charcoal trays.

Dyna-Glo's Vertical Charcoal Offset Smoker is one of the few low-cost Vertical Offsets on the market. We advise readers to avoid purchasing cheap horizontal barrel offsets, but this inexpensive vertical smoker should mitigate one of the primary flaws of horizontal offsets: heat travels upward not sideways. The vertical smokebox allows heat and smoke to go where they naturally want to go... Read More

1) Try to post your question to the appropriate page.

2) Tell us everything we need to know to help such as the type of cooker and thermometer. Dial thermometers are often off by as much as 50°F so if you are not using a good digital thermometer we probably can't help you with time and temp questions. Please read this article about thermometers.
