This is a great concept, a capacious gas and charcoal grill in one unit, and you can add an optional offset charcoal firebox to make it a smoker, too. Unfortunately the quality is reflected in their price. Cheap. The gas side on the left produces 40,800 BTU with 3 burners. A side burner puts out 12,000 BTU. There is no natural gas optional hookup. We recently tested the stand alone... Read More

The Dyna-Glo Dual Zone Charcoal Grill looks good on paper, but we are skeptical of the quality from this manufacturer. The good news is it has two, independently adjustable charcoal trays, a unique BBQ feature which could be useful, and a removable firebox divider to isolate the two zones. Double cast iron doors up front allow easy access for tending the charcoal trays.

Englander's 21-PG100 Pellet Smoker was designed in conjunction with Fast Eddie Maurin, whose award winning pellet smokers are well known on the competition circuit. Indeed the PG100 has many similarities to Fast Eddy's PG500. Unlike most pellet smokers that are indirect BBQ ovens, both the PG100 and PG500 have one direct and two indirect cooking zones.

The first thing one may notice about Gateway Drum Smokers is the colorful, high-heat resistant paint. The second thing is the unusual air control system which consists of two intake pipes welded to the bottom of the drum to feed air into the firebox. Each pipe curves upward, terminating just below the upper rim of the drum, and each has an adjustable damper at the top. There is a small... Read More

The PigOut Roaster POR 48 is their smallest all in one cooker for large capacity events and handles up to a 70 pound pig or lamb. This is a really clever design. Built in Canada, this ingenious stainless steel propane fired device has a motorized rotisserie for hogs and lambs that can also be used to hold optional shelves, ferris wheel style, for cooking other foods like chicken, BBQ... Although Pitt's & Spitt's Combo 18" X 30" Smoker Pit is one of their smallest models, with 810 square inches of cooking surface it's large for residential use. We like residential BBQ offset smokers with the firebox underneath rather than on the side because heat naturally travels upward, not sideways. While this is not always desirable for catering and competition where different... Read More
PlaceholderBlack kamado on a patio with trees and shrubbery in the background. Cooking tools hang from shelves on each side.
The 18" cooking grate gives you 254 square inches of cooking area with the grate set down into the belly of the beast, and you can add another grate increasing the cooking area to 460 square inches. The lower air intake is a sliding door that gives you very good control but removing ash through it is tricky because the opening is small and the floor of the inside is slightly below the... Texas Original Pits Luling Offset Smoker 20" x 32" x 18" is their most popular model. Yes it looks like those cheap offsets sold in big box stores, but this is the real deal: a classic, no-frills, 1/4" thick steel Texas BBQ Pit named after the Luling Oil Field northwest of Luling, TX. It is available in smaller and larger sizes. All grates are expanded metal. The 20" x 18" firebox has a... Read More

The Grill Tender is a computer controlled cooker that regulates user set cooking temps by mechanically opening and closing vents. We've seen only a few motorized vent control designs. One wonders how these Rube Goldburgesque solutions stack up against popular air controllers like BBQ Guru.

Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet is at it again. Just when we thought we'd seen everything in the world of kamados, Kalamazoo unveils their striking Shokunin Kamado Grill. Shokunin, Japanese for "master" or "artisan", is rectangular with an 18 inch x 24 inch primary cook surface and an extended height. We've long been fans of oval kamados like Primo and Komodo Kamado because the elongated,... Read More
