The ThermoPro TP-930 is a four-channel wireless thermometer that communicates with a free app that is available for Android and Apple phones. The remote thermometer’s range is claimed to be “up to 650′.” If communication between the thermometer and the app is lost, the user will be notified by an audible signal.

The thermometer can be used by itself or connected to your phone by the app. Pairing is simple, but only one thermometer at a time can be paired with the app at one time. This won’t likely cause a cook any problems, but it required a couple of extra steps while conducting this review.

The app allows you to set a target temperature from a list of USDA-approved values, or you can use your own. When the target is reached, you’ll get an audible alert and a visible display in the app. If used as a stand-alone thermometer, there isn’t any alarm function. There is also a built-in count-down timer in the app that alerts the cook after a set period if desired.

The unit features a built-in battery and a USB cable to recharge it. Charge time is three hours; discharge time is “up to 8 months” but conditions are not specified. It has an attractive backlit display. There is a stand on the back and a retractable hook to allow convenient placement of the transmitter unit. The unit will power down three hours after the loss of the Bluetooth signal.

Accuracy was very good and the build quality is solid. No claim is made as to immunity to water ingress, so don’t leave it out in the rain. It hits the market at an attractive price point.

Contact information for the manufacturer includes a phone number and an e-mail address should technical support be required. It comes with a one-year limited warranty.

Overall, this is a nicely made unit that performs well, earning it our Gold Medal.
