On October 8, 2015, Brinkmann filed for Chapter 11 under the US bankruptcy code. While the company is opened for business and continues to sell products, they are not accepting returns or exchanges. They no longer will honor warranties and all sales are final. It appears their biggest client, Home Depot, stopped ordering and that pushed them over the edge. We'll keep you posted.
Brinkmann is known for super low priced cookers, made for frugal people. Quality and price are close to value brands like Masterbuilt, Char-Griller and Master Forge, but Brinkmann is a small step above and sometimes offers interesting and useful value added features. Brinkmann is one of the largest BBQ manufacturers in the United States, angling for the market of price driven rival, Char-Broil, but lacking that company's focus and innovation. They have a thousand and one models and some have merit considering the price, but many of their products are more of the same cost driven stuff with a different logo on the lid.
Brinkmann is widely distributed online and at brick and mortar outlets, including big box stores.
Brinkmann Gourmet Electric Smoker

The Brinkmann Gourmet Electric Smoker is a cheapo painted steel bullet that comes in red or black. It has a 1500 watt heating element and lava rocks but, unlike the Meco or Char-Broil, there is no variable control or thermostat. It has a decent thermometer and a front hinged door to make adding water or wood easy. Converts easily to an electric grill. Two chrome-plated 15.5" steel racks, wooden handles, porcelain-coated steel water pan. One year warranty.

Mo's Smoking Pouch is essential for gas grills. It is an envelope of mesh 304 stainless steel that holds wood chips or pellets. The airspaces in the mesh are small enough that they limit the amount of oxygen that gets in so the wood smolders. Put it on top of the cooking grate, on the burners, on the coals. It holds enough wood for about 15 minutes for short cooks, so you need to refill it or buy a second pouch for long cooks like pork shoulder and brisket. Mine has survived more than 50 cooks.
