The Smoky Mountain 40″ Electric Smoker is Landmann’s top of the line electric model. This large steel smoker with a viewing window in the door is 40.5″ x 24.25″ x 22.25″ with five chrome plated cooking racks. The 1200 Watt heating element promises a temperature range of 100° to 275°. The digital LED display controller enables you to set both temp and time, and an integrated meat thermometer monitors progress of the cook. The 24 hour timer features auto shut-off.
Two drawers are located at the bottom. The top large drawer contains a water pan and wood chip tray and allows you to tend both without disturbing the smoke box. The second drawer is a pull-out grease tray.
Interior lighting illuminates your goodies for window watching. The front façade is stainless steel. The door snaps shut with a combo magnet and spring latch – a nice feature. A useful, multi-hook meat hanger rack is included and a back handle and wheels enables you to tilt and move this unit easily.
Although we feel flavor from electric heating elements is not as good as smokers that use combustion of gas, wood or charcoal, many people love them, and for some apartment and condo dwellers electrics are the only option that satisfies their building and association codes. This model should be a step up from the typical low cost electric BBQ smokers you find in hardware stores, however some owners report serious quality issues.
