Weber 9815 - Dial-type Thermometer Review

This in-oven/in-meat dial thermometer is an accurate but slow-to-respond unit that will work fine for its intended purpose, but will not double as an instant-read thermometer. It is intended to be inserted into the grill/smoker or food while it is cooking. Under these conditions, the response time doesn’t matter, and this thermometer will work well as a low-cost alternative to a digital unit. Its advantage is that it can be left in the oven and read directly without the need for a cable and external readout. The downside is that it won’t read reliably to one or two degrees, something that might be important for gauging doneness of meat.

We’ll give it a Bronze medal for adequate performance at a reasonable price.

3) Tell us everything we need to know to help such as the type of cooker and thermometer. Dial thermometers are often off by as much as 50ยฐF so if you are not using a good digital thermometer we probably can’t help you with time and temp questions. Please read this article about thermometers.
