ThermoWorks EXEC Thermometer Review

The ThermoWorks EXEC is a hand-held instant-read food thermometer that is available in four colors and three probe lengths. This review examined the version with the 5″ probe.

The thermometer utilizes a CR1632 button battery that the manufacturer claims will last 3,000 hours. A single press of the power button will turn the unit on; pressing the button for three seconds while it’s on will shut it off. It will turn off by itself after 35 minutes. A momentary press of the power button will toggle the backlight on and off. There is a Hold button that captures the current reading until it can be read.

A button on the back of the unit will toggle between °F and °C. The Min/Max button on the rear of the thermometer will toggle between normal use, MAX temp, and MIN temp since power-up. The unit starts in normal mode when turned on. The display will rotate 180° to facilitate reading in awkward positions.

The accuracy and speed of the unit are excellent. The water resistance is at the IP67 level, so splashes aren’t a problem. The unit can be calibrated if necessary.

The thermometer is warranted for five years. The manufacturer’s contact info, including a phone number and e-mail address, is found on the instruction sheet in case help is needed.

ThermoWorks products are always well-made and should last for years. There are cheaper thermometers available, but you usually get what you pay for. This instant-read thermometer gets a Gold Medal based on its construction and performance.
