Pro Smoker ‘N Roaster PK100P Review

Share on:
PK 100 Smoker

A unique feature of the Pro Smoker ‘N Roaster PK100P is its wide temperature range. Pro Smoker claims it can cook at a lower temp than most other electrics, starting at 60°F, low enough for smoking cheese without melting it and for smoking sausage without cooking it. It can heat up to 250°F: high enough for cooking the classic BBQ smoked meats like ribs and brisket.

The PK100P has a black painted steel exterior. They make another version with a stainless steel exterior that runs about $400 more called the PK100SS. Both interiors are high quality 18 gauge 304 stainless steel and both are insulated with 1″ high density, high temp insulation. At 48″ high x 21″ wide x 21″ deep it is slightly taller than most other backyard electric smokers, which is desirable for hanging meats such as sausage. Optional smoke house sticks or rods for hanging sausage are available. For the economy minded, wooden dowels may be used. The extended height of course provides larger capacity. It can smoke 100 pounds of summer sausage at one time, making it feasible for modest professional applications.

This electric smoker will run on a standard wall outlet. The door is sealed with a 100% neoprene gasket. There are two dampers to create even airflow, one at the bottom of the door and one on top of the smoker. The automatic digital LED temperature control regulates the electric burner. Cooking may be done with or without smoke. A smoking pan is included for chips, pellets, or sawdust, but there is no way to access this pan without opening the door. A drip pan, also included, can double as a water pan.

The PK100P comes with five chrome plated nickel shelves, four casters and a recipe/instruction booklet. Two year limited warranty, 90 day electrical components (parts only). No warranty on paint, gaskets, or damage caused from corrosion. NSF and UL approved. It is available at Cabela’s or direct from Pro Smoker.
