This easy-to-read unit has the usual switches: on/off and F/C, plus a max temp button, a hold button and a calibrate button. There is no backlight, but the display has large numbers, making reading easy. The response time is very good at 5 seconds. The ability to capture the maximum temperature or freeze the current reading make using it effortless. It will auto-shutoff after 10 minutes. It has a self-calibration feature that lets you verify accuracy using an ice bath.
