The Polder THM-375 Speed-Read Instant Read Thermometer is an inexpensive unit that has good accuracy and average response time. It cannot be left in the oven/grill while cooking.
The thermometer has a large, easy to read display and basic functions like min/max readout. These numbers can be cleared either by switching the unit off and back on, or by pressing the clear button while viewing the min or the max reading. It can be switched between the F and C scales. The thermometer does NOT auto-shutoff, a behavior that could result in a dead battery if inadvertently stored in the on state. USDA-recommended food temperatures are printed on the probe sheath in a very tiny font.
The manufacturer’s contact info, including address, website and e-mail, is found on the instruction sheet. The unit carries a two-year limited warranty.
The performance of this thermometer is decent, but it doesn’t stand out from the crowd in any meaningful way. It has good accuracy and reasonable response time. We give it a Bronze medal for meeting expectations.
