The ThermoPro TP-15H is a well-made instant-read food thermometer with several usability features that sells for a reasonable price. It responds quickly and has very good accuracy. The thermometer cannot be left in food while it is cooking.
The thermometer is powered by a single AAA battery, readily available everywhere. It can display the temperature in either Fahrenheit or Celsius to 0.1° resolution. There is a Hold button that allows you to capture the current temperature. The display does not rotate, so it favors right-handed users. There is a backlight button for easy reading in low light conditions. A small screw driver is included that fits the battery door fastener.

There is a calibration feature in case the user requires greater accuracy. If the calibration procedure fails, there is a procedure to return to the default calibration.
Want a new set of tools? Check out Meathead’s new book, The Meathead Method. It’s a toolbox that will elevate all your cooking. Alton Brown calls it “The only book on outdoor cookery you’ll ever need.”
The probe is over 5 inches (125mm) with a thin tip to aid in rapid response. There is a magnet built into the case that allows the unit to stick to a steel surface. There is also a loop at the end to hang the unit on a peg.
The instructions are straightforward and easy to comprehend. The manufacturer’s contact info includes a telephone number, e-mail address and website. The warranty is for one year.
I’m giving the ThermoPro TP-15H Instant Read Thermometer a Gold Medal for good construction, excellent performance and a low price.
