The Smoke Hollow 1800CGS is a gas grill and charcoal grill/smoker for $400: three cookers rolled into one. Use just one side for cooking a couple steaks or both sides for parties. Although some owners gripe that cook surface on each side is smallish.
The low powered gas grill has three 10,000 BTU stainless steel tube burners and a 9,300 BTU side burner flush mounted on a side shelf. The charcoal side includes an adjustable height charcoal tray and offset firebox. Both sides have porcelain coated cast iron cooking grates and there’s a small warming rack on the gas side.
Our Review of the Smoke Hollow 1800CGS
It’s easy to understand the attraction to these combo cookers. Who doesn’t want to get the most BBQ bang for their buck? Several manufacturers offer these combo designs. Though the concept is cool, ask yourself, why not get two separate grills? Even a large Weber Kettle is under a hundred dollars and you trip over all the low cost gassers every time you walk into Home Depot. With a few add ons like a Smokenator, you can turn a Weber kettle into a much better smoker than this device will ever be.
