This small, portable gas grill has a unique design. The grill is integrated into a collapsible stand on two wheels, much like a suitcase on wheels with telescoping handle. Two 30 quart cloth ice bags rest at the bottom of the frame. The handle and grill are on telescoping poles and can be pulled up or pushed down as needed.
On paper and in photos, the system looks good. But true to Char-Broil form, for everyone who loves the Grill2Go Ice, there’s another who suffers from extreme buyer’s remorse. Some love the collapsible design and ease of transport, others complain the telescoping legs and handle are rickety and the entire unit is too heavy to lift up and down stairs or into a car. Some are very pleased with cooking performance, others seem like they can barely get the grill to function. We have not had the opportunity to test this one.
The cookbox is similar to Char-Broil’s Gourmet grills. A radiant trough rests above the single burner. Grates are porcelain coated metal. You can toss wood chips through the grate onto the trough to get a whiff of BBQ smoke. Piezo electric ignition.

Manufacturer:
Char-Broil is an innovator in the popular gas grill arena with clever designs, low to midrange prices, and excellent customer service. For several years they have focused on infrared cooking.ย Starting inย 2012 all new IR models were dubbed “Tru-Infrared”. These grills are made with stainless steel tube burners that work in conjunction with a radiant surface to bring heat close to the food. The radiant surface shields food from direct flame and reduces hot dry convection heat rising from the burners.
As one of the biggest BBQ manufacturers in the world, Char-Broilย offers a clear, low cost alternative to Weber and surpasses many other price driven manufacturers with their infrared gas grill design innovation and focused marketing. Also in 2012, Char-Broil introduced Saber, a new, very high quality line of gas grills that goes head to head with Weber’s Summit series in the premium grill space. Theyย offer charcoal grills, smokers, fryers and a variety of accessories and tools.
Char-Broil is owned by The W.C. Bradley Company headquartered in Columbus, GA.ย ย Roots of W.C. Bradleyย go back before the Civil War to The Columbus Iron Works. The first Char-Broil grill was made and sold in the USA in 1948. Now all Char-Broil grills are manufactured in China and distributed around the globe.
