Huntington Cast 4200 2-Burner Gas Grill Review

Huntington Cast 4200 Gas Grill

The Huntington Cast 4200 Gas Grill, (aka Broil-Mate 165154 LP Gas Grill), is a throwback to the first BBQ gas grills which began appearing in the early 1960s and are still made by American companies like Modern Home Products. Back then, cast aluminum housings were the norm instead of stainless or coated steel. The aluminum cookbox retains heat and distributes it evenly. Although the casting on this model is much thinner than the heavy duty MHP, the price is also dramatically less.

About the Huntington Cast 4200 2-Burner Gas Grill

It has an old style, 40,000 BTU stainless steel Dual H-Burner: two U-shaped burners fused together with separate controls, (below). Great for 2-zone setups because, unlike straight tube burners, the U-shaped burners almost wrap around each half of the firebox bottom and 20,000 BTU per side is pretty powerful for a gasser in this price range.

Ignore the cave era heat indicator in the hood, it can be off by 50 to 100 degrees.  Get an accurate digital thermometer and watch your grilling prowess skyrocket!

Long lasting stainless steel Flavor-R-Wave heat tents diffuse heat and sizzle drippings. The cooking grates are porcelain coated cast iron. A lightweight two-wheeled cart with no enclosure features resin side shelves with integrated tool hooks and it comes with electric ignition. With 400 square inches of primary cooking surface, this is a nice size cooker for the money. It is short on flash and long on substance.

Regarding appearance, don’t judge a grill by its cover. Many shiny inexpensive gassers are inferior machines dolled up with thin flimsy low grade stainless steel. They often carry only a one year warranty. But for a few hundred bucks more you can play the extended warranty game. The Huntington Cast 4200 2-Burner Gas Grill is an unassuming cooker with a good, solid grill. Plus, it has an excellent warranty, especially considering the price: Limited lifetime on the aluminum body, 5 years on the burner and 2 years on everything else.

Manufacturer Information
Huntington

Huntington has made gas grills in Huntington, IN since the 1980s. In 2009 Canadian BBQ giant, Onward Manufacturing, bought Huntington. Some believe they just wanted a box stamped "Made in America" for all their big box made in north america logocustomers. Be that as it may, many features from Onward's beautiful Broil King grills have migrated to Huntington models while Huntington prices have remained low, making them just about the best deal for a low cost grill you're going to find. A side effect of this synergetic merger resulted in the "Made in America" stamp often being replaced with "Made in North America".

Huntington is one of five quality brands of Gas Grills owned by Canadian BBQ giant, Onward Manufacturing. Onward also owns the well regarded Broil King, Broil-Mate and Sterling Grill lines, as well as Fiesta, Grill Pro and Barbecue Genius Parts and Accessories. Founded in Canada in 1906 by T.A. Witzel, Onward is now owned and managed by his three grandsons.
