Italian Spice Blend Recipe

This is an excellent Italian herb blend recipe we use for pizza, meatballs, red sauces, and anything you want to add an Italian flair to. It takes me back to ice skating as a boy and buying pizza by the slice and to dinner in the homes of any of my Italian American wife's family. To me the most important flavor is oregano.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Course: Sauces and Condiments
Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons crushed dried oregano leaves
  • 4 tablespoons crushed, dried basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme leaves
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Method

  1. Just mix them together in a jar and shake before using.

Notes

Optional additions. Dried rosemary leaves (crush them so they don’t stab you); dried marjoram; 1crushed red pepper flakes or chipotle.
