The Mk 4 has the original Thermapen’s shape and basic operation, but includes features that are common on high-end instruments: automatic backlight and rotating display. It gets our top rating.

It has a cast aluminum cookbox which will last longer and retain and distribute heat way better than all those cheap, flimsy stainless steel gassers that are so popular in the big box stores.
