The Dyna-Glo Dual Zone Charcoal Grill looks good on paper, but we are skeptical of the quality from this manufacturer. The good news in our review is that it has two, independently adjustable charcoal trays, a unique feature which could be useful, and a removable firebox divider to isolate the two zones.
Dyna-Glo makes basically the same grill for Lowe’s under the Master Forge label. A lot of people like it, so we went to kick the tires for this review and were sorry to find it is about as flimsy as flimsy gets. It’s so cheaply constructed that it made the POJ Char-Griller on display next to it look good.
Smoke Hollow’s 30″ Vertical Propane Smoker is a generic, low cost device. We give it our AmazingRibs.com Best Value Silver Medal. Unlike many gas smokers that have cast metal round burners, this one uses a 10,000 BTU stainless steel tube burner. The wood chip tray is long and rectangular to conform to the burner.
It’s not our first choice by any means, but if you really have a tight budget, you could sure do a lot worse. Many people who own one of these economy grills seem reasonably happy to accept them for what they are – made cheap to sell cheap, earning our AmazingRibs.com Best Value Bronze Medal.

This model comes with a small cart.
Masterbuilt’s Dual Fuel Smoker has a “Flame Disc Bowl” located above the gas burner and under the water bowl. It can be used for wood chunks when smoking with gas or, alternatively, filled with charcoal. Hence the Dual Fuel moniker. We reviewed this model and award our AmazingRibs.com Silver Medal.
Read our review of Vision’s Professional S-Series which has some unique and interesting features not found on other ceramics. The Landmann (aka Great Outdoors) 34″ Two Drawer Gas Vertical Smoker features a cast brass burner with rotary ignition. Lightweight construction give a flimsy feel to this cooker. Read our review. The main door uses magnets instead of a latch and there is no insulation. We give this one our AmazingRibs.com Best Value Bronze Medal.
Englander’s 21-PG100 Pellet Smoker was designed in conjunction with Fast Eddie Maurin, whose award winning pellet smokers are well known on the competition circuit. We reviewed this model which indeed has many similarities to Fast Eddy’s PG500. Unlike most pellet smokers both the PG100 and PG500 have one direct and two indirect zones.
We reviewed this unusual device. The Cajun Express Smoker is a pressure cooker with smoke. Moisture is introduced into the double walled, sealed smoke box via a patented hydration system. Wood chips create smoke within the high pressure, humid environment cooking meats quickly while imparting smoke flavor and retaining moisture.
We reviewed Dyna-Glo’s Gas Vertical Smoker And found it is an average cooker, built OK for an OK price. Most gas smokers are pretty generic, but get the job done and we far prefer them over electric smokers. So this one receives our AmazingRibs.com Best Value Silver Medal Award.

This AmazingRibs.com Gold Medal winner includes a griddle tray, smoke tray for wood chips, rotisserie with 15,000 BTU Infrared back burner and custom cover.
This 3-burner is a mid-size model in Char-Broil’s Performance line. Performance uses a single piece of stainless steel for the cooking grate. It gets very hot and radiates heat evenly across the surface. We reviewed this TRU-infrared model and award our AmazingRibs.com Best Value Silver Medal.
The Crown Verity BM-60 Charcoal Grill is a professional BBQ grill for rental and catering. We reviewed this big event grill. The 72″ x 31″ heavy duty nickel plated cooking grate is reinforced to prevent warping and has a lip around the perimeter to stop wayward sausages from rolling off. This popular 60″ model earns our AmazingRibs.com Gold Medal.
Broil-Mate’s 712364H is a mighty nice 4-burner for the money that earns our AmazingRibs.com Gold Medal. Made by Onward Manufacturing, the same folks that make Broil King. The 4 Burner Gas Grill with Stainless Steel Lid is the largest model offered under the BBQ Pro name. Sears obviously believes the stainless steel lid on this economy gasser is a big selling point and they may be right. In any case, the phrase “stainless steel lid” is inserted seemingly at every possible opportunity
This Char-Broil model may be a little better than other inexpensive combo grills, but read our review to learn why we can’t recommend it. It’s an appealing idea, but you’re better off getting separate grills. Even a large Weber Kettle is under a hundred dollars and there’s no shortage of low cost gassers at all the big box stores.
We don’t recommend most side by side smoker grills. Read our review to learn why. Charcoal/Gas combo grills like this Smoke Hollow model are offered by a lot of manufacturers. For about the same cost, two separate grills are a better option. Even Weber kettle charcoal grill can sell for under a hundred dollars and you trip over all the low cost gassers every time you walk Lowes or Home Depot.
This “Luxury Island” created a compelling picture and offered visions of grandeur – a spectacular outdoor kitchen in a box. Take a hard look at the price tag then look again without rose colored glasses. This “luxury” patio island is poorly designed and poorly constructed with cheap materials.

Many people who own one of the Classic Series economy grills seem reasonably happy to accept them for what they are – made cheap to sell cheap, earning our AmazingRibs.com Best Value Bronze Medal.
As the name suggests, the Backyard Grill 4-Burner Gas Grill is a generic gasser. It has four 12,000 BTU main burners and a 12,000 BTU side burner that is flush mounted on the right side shelf.

The Cookshack Charbroiler CB036 is a commercial, pellet fired grill meant for professional use. We reviewed the 36″ model. It also comes in a smaller 24″ model and larger 48″ model. Unlike most pellet cookers that are designed for smoking, CB036 reaches searing temps of 700° to sizzle steaks and burgers while imparting a nice whiff of smoky flavor.
Arizona BBQ Outfitter’s Scottsdale Cooker is a clever design that melds an adjustable height charcoal grill with a Santa Maria, vertical lift grill. Read our review of this unique cooker. Cosmetic flaws might have been forgiven if performance shined as brightly as Coyote’s stainless hood. Unfortunately this grill has a remarkably uneven heat pattern, forcing one to constantly flip flop foods from the hot zones directly above the burners to various less-hot zones everywhere else.

Not recommended. Char-Griller tried to hop on the pellet smoker bandwagon with this halfhearted attempt at making a mid-size product.

Even Weber kettle charcoal grill can sell for under a hundred dollars and you trip over all the low cost gassers every time you walk Lowes or Home Depot.

It takes up only a small footprint, but the same can be said of the other cabinet style, front loading propane smokers, and they all work better including the one by Char-Broil.
The Brinkmann Gourmet Electric Smoker is a cheapo painted steel bullet that comes in red or black. It has a 1500 watt heating element and lava rocks but, unlike the Meco or Char-Broil, there is no variable control or thermostat. We don’t recommend this model.
We’ve heard complaints about the bisquettes sticking the feed tube. And one must ask, what if they go out of biz? Where do we get bisquettes then? On the plus side, Bradley has an active user forum and their staff are there to help. Still, after reviewing, we don’t recommend this model.
